業務アプリケーションベンダーとして世界最大の企業、ドイツのSAPは昨年の7月、保守サービスを手厚くする代わりに、多くの顧客に実質的な値上げとなる保守料金の体系を変更すると発表しました。

ところがこれに世界中のユーザーグループが反発。保守サービスに値上げするだけの価値があるのかどうか、実際にSAPを導入している顧客で効果を測定し、一定以上の効果が証明できたら値上げしてもいい、というプロジェクトを開始しました。

顧客とベンダが共同で、製品とその保守サービスの価値を数値によって証明する、ということに取り組むこのプロジェクト。ソフトウェアやサービスが提供する価値とは何か？ それをどうやって数値で表していくのか、非常に興味深い内容が詰まっています。
